maxwell hazan, a new yorker from brooklyn, has achieved close to what can be considered perfection with the ‘BSA A50’ motorcycle. as S two-time winner of pipeburn’s bike of the year award, he’s one of the few designers globally that could lay claim to the title of ‘world’s best’. such like his aluminum masterpiece ‘the musket’,  he retains it’s elegant bare metal frame without a drop of paint.

hazan motorwork’s royal enfield ‘BSA A50’ is the first project by the master motorcycle-craftsman. each and every component, excluding the engine,on the ‘BSA A50’ is handmade, every detail was bespoke designed for this project. max selected a 1966 ‘A50’ engine as the foundation of the build, placing an elegant, balloon-shaped classic BSA motor at the heart of the bike. he then fuses the gas tank into the frame to refine the motorcycle’s form. beneath the tank is a repurposed sediment bowl from a tractor, feeding fuel through its hand-formed aluminum lines. all parts and cabling are discreetly routed through the frame, creating a super-clean aesthetic.

another noteworthy detail is the transluscent aspirator bottle he has used, rather than a traditional steel or aluminum tank: the movement of the bike’s liquid is now visible, with hand-crafted mounting hardware surrounding the bottle. a modified harley hub sits at the front of the bike, while an adapted honda ‘CB350’ front drum brake is used as the rear hub.
