The State Excise and Taxation Department has managed to nab a huge cache of illicit liquor, fake holograms, fake labels, lids and suspicious chemicals. On the basis of a tip-off, the department raided the house of Vijay Laxmi wife Raju in Shanan, Shimla last evening and seized 21 bottles of Royal Stag (For Sale in Chandigarh), 2 bottles of Kingfisher brand beer.
Apart from this, 16,230 fake holograms, 11,984 fake labels, fake lids of country liquor in a sack and a gallon of suspected substance weighing 50 kg were also seized from the woman’s house. The suspect substance is suspected to contain a dangerous chemical, but it is yet to be tested and confirmed in the laboratory.
The Excise and Taxation Department has registered an FIR against the woman for possessing illicit liquor, fake holograms and fake labels in Dhali police station and handed over to the police. The police is deeply involved in this matter.
There has been a stir after the discovery of 16,230 holograms at the woman’s house. It is extremely confident. Despite this, the availability of such a large number of holograms is pointing towards big smuggling. From where did the woman get this? The police has started its investigation. 3605 liters of liquor destroyed: Yunus
Excise Commissioner Yunus said that another team of the department seized 7 bottles of illicit liquor from a dhaba in Shimla and got it done under the Excise Act. He said that the departmental officers have seized 3605 liters of raw liquor (lahan) in Kullu, Nurpur, Sirmaur and destroyed it as per rules.
65 Task Force is taking action: Yunus
Yunus informed that the departmental teams have seized 63 bottles of English liquor, 167 bottles of country liquor, 34 bottles of beer and 96 bottles of wine under the Excise Act from different areas of the state. 65 special task forces have been formed at the regional and district level in the state. A control room has been set up at the headquarters to keep an eye on the transportation of liquor and intoxicants, other types of consumer goods.
